Observability
Instrumentation isn’t a dashboard bolted on after the fact—it’s a design constraint. We wire metrics, traces, and structured logs into a system as it’s built, so request flow, latency, and failure stay legible under load. The graph below is a worked example: every edge a real request path.
A sampled request is traced live: it propagates hop by hop through the service topology—gateway authenticates via auth, then the matching-engine runs a pre-trade risk check, matches against the order-book, and settles to the ledger (which appends to the journal) while publishing to market-data and writing an audit record—and its span waterfall builds underneath on the same clock, showing each call's start time and duration in microseconds. Ambient dots show background traffic; the slowest span and any slow trace are highlighted.
Determinism
Some problems demand the exact right number, every time, with a clear account of how it was reached. We take an unfamiliar domain, model it from first principles, make the outcome deterministic and reproducible, and define the analytics that keep it auditable. Below is a worked example—real isolated-margin risk math you can drive yourself.

Range
From fintech to medtech. The discipline that clears a trade in microseconds is the discipline that catches an arrhythmia in a live signal—correct processing, deterministic detection, and systems you can trust when the stakes turn physical. Below, a lead-II ECG, classified beat by beat, flagging ectopic beats as they arrive.

Normal beats are marked N; premature, wide beats are flagged as ventricular ectopics, labelled V and drawn in red. Heart rate, rhythm, the last R-to-R interval, and running beat counts update continuously.
